MVTC

Introduction

TVET in Sri Lanka refers to the development and implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Sri Lankan education system and labor market. In Sri Lanka, the formal TVET sector comprises about 635 public sector training centres and 718 private and NGO training centres.

Under the TVET network, Mercy Vocational Training Centre is an ‘A’ grade centre approved by the Tertiary Vocational Education Commission (TVEC). It has produced more than 650 skilled technicians so far and supplied them to the job market to cater for the technical needs of the country. The 13th batch of trainees joined our centre on the 28th of November 2021 to follow training courses in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Electrical Power, Plumbing, Welding and Auto Mobile Technicians. After completing a one-year full-time course in our training centre and six months of industrial training in various institutions/companies, these trainees will receive National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 4 certificates from TVEC. So far MVTC has produced 647 skilled technicians for the labor market

MVTC is a pioneer institution for technical training courses in the Puttalam District. It is producing value-added technicians for the global labor market. We are proud to mention that some of our products are employed in our tri forces and in foreign countries as well. Our technician’s services are being commended by most of their employers because of their honesty, talents, and skills.
