72nd Independence Day of Sri Lanka

MEC community commemorated the 72nd Independence Day of Sri Lanka under the Theme of “A Secured Nation – A Prosperous Country” with the participation of representatives from Mundal Divisional Secretariat, Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha, MOH Mundal, Madurankuliya Grama Niladhari, Madurankuliya Traders Union, and neighbors of MEC, officers of Mercy Lanka, all staff members and students of MEC.

National flag of sri Lanka was hoisted by Chief Guest Mr. J. A. G. N. D. Jayasinghe, the Principal of P/Rathna Pradeepa Junior School, Madurankulliya. While addressing the gathering he emphasized that understanding the needs and feelings of others and respecting religions, rituals, values and views of others, are pillars of Peace and Coexistence among the different ethnic and religious communities living in this beautiful Island Sri Lanka to ensure a Prosperous Country. Further, he appreciated Mercy Education Campus for empowering students to become fluent in all three languages since the language is the bridge connecting every Sri Lankan regardless of religious and ethnic diversity.

Moreover, observance of one-minute silence in respecting the war heroes of the nation and Planting of Trees were among the key events of the celebrations took place in 2020.

In addition, the children celebrated the day in a cheerful manner while exhibiting the brotherhood and unity through dressing like other communities. Click here Photos
